Programs

The New Victorian School academic program is bilingual — English and French – for students in the preschool, elementary, middle, and high school level.

The American academic program is based on a high-level, Christian-oriented curriculum. TNVS alumni will be able to participate in standardized testing and complete their high school studies abroad if they choose to. Remedial classes for new students who have difficulties with English are required to attend our summer camp, afterschool program and Saturday classes, if necessary.

The French curriculum follows that of Haiti’s Minister of Education. TNVS alumni will excel in their “nouveau secondaire” studies and complete their “Rhéto” and “Philo” exams.

In order to enhance the academimc achievements of TNVS students, we have an afterschool program that takes place from Monday through Thursday, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. There, we provide homework assistance, bring greater clarification and understanding of lessons presented to them in class, test preparation, and supervision of their daily studies.

TNVS has a technology division for our 1st grade to 11th grade students. The curriculum includes typing, Microsoft Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, coding, etc.

The Sherry Joseph Library, named after our co-founder, is a dynamic space where everyone comes together to read, learn, and grow. Our annual reading contest encourages students to read over 40+ books every academic year, thanks to our current collection of over 3,000 books, resources, and games in English, French, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. The “word of the day” is presented every day in the morning assembly, which helps build vocabulary, character, and fosters community. We are always looking to partner with others to expand its resources, games, and offerings for everyone.

The New Victorian School has a music department where students learn violin, viola, cello, double bass, keyboard/piano, music theory, percussion/tambour, and singing. Students are eligible for program participation beginning at second grade and are chosen based on their grades, their conduct, and their creative abilities.

We strongly believe in the power of learning through play, which is why every year, we organize a play that blends literature studied in class with the theater department. This provides an amazing opportunity for students to showcase their creativity while collaborating across the music, dance, and choir sections for a truly beautiful collaboration.

TNVS also has a dance division where students learn the various Latin dances such as Tcha Tcha Tcha, rumba, salsa, tango as well as Haitian folkloric dance.
